Employee Relations Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 p.a.

Location: Birmingham

An exciting opportunity for a strategic, yet hands-on HR specialist with significant experience in Employee Relations to join a well-established, vibrant consumer-facing brand in the heart of Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the effective development and maintenance of positive working relationships with trade unions at both local and regional levels.

  • Achieving business and customer objectives through provision of professional advice and guidance to Line Managers.

  • Manage the procedural agreements and assist in development of revised policies and procedures that comply with employment legislation. 

  • Maintain a current working relationship with the recognised Trade Unions and representatives at all levels

  • Manage grievance issues within the organisation and contribute to the effective operation of the organisation.

  • Understand, review, interpret and act as a knowledge base for prescribed terms and conditions of grade groups.

  • Production of monthly data for Executive Report in terms of discipline and grievance.

  • Management of reorganisations and working practice reviews as necessary.

  • Professional support and guidance to line Managers.

  • Application of terms and conditions of employment and policies and procedures

  • Any other admin duties that may be required from the Head of HR which are appropriate to the role.

You must have the following skills and attributes:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with CIPD qualifications
  • Proven experience in Industrial relations within a heavily unionised environment
  • Good understanding of HR best practice in industrial and employee relations
  • Previous experience of persuading and influencing at all levels, especially within areas that are a proven challenge
  • Previous experience of managing and delivering projects (preferably within a HR function)
  • Experienced and up to date with employment legislation.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
